EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY INSTRUCTOR:

Richard Ernst, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
Richard brings years of clinical experience in working with youth to Blue Heaven…

Richard has 34 years of experience working with at risk youth. He has worked for Outward Bound doing special programming for physically disabled persons and emotionally disturbed children, drawing on his many years of mountaineering in the Northwest. Richard has worked in residential alcohol and drug treatment and for many years has done adventure based programming for youth from all backgrounds.  He has built 20 permanent structure “ropes courses” all over the Northwest, and consulted with colleges, businesses and social service agencies in the development of experiential training and education programs.

For the past 13 years, Richard has worked as a Family Therapist with adolescent sexual offenders.  He has presented internationally on working with abused children, and is known in his field for developing experiential methods for treating complex emotional problems. He has been in private practice for 15 years specializing in couples, families and group therapy, using traditional as well as holistic modalities.

Richard loves working with horses, and studies the techniques of Natural Horsemanship. These methods emphasize respect for and partnership with the horse.  His greatest accomplishment is being happily married after 23 years.
